The New York Yankees finished off an incredible five game sweep of their arch rival Red Sox today with a 2-1 win in Boston. New York now leads the American League's Eastern Division by 6 and 1/2 games with under 40 to go in the Major League Baseball season.
The Red Sox hadn't been swept in a five-game series since the Cleveland Indians did it in 1954. The Yankees swept Boston in five games in New York in 1951 and at Fenway in '43.
